How can we transform a workplace into a genuine tool for health and social interaction? Moving away from cold corporate models or the compartmentalized offices inherited over decades, contemporary interior architecture requires us to understand that a workplace is not merely a container for desks and chairs; it is a living instrument for well-being, connection, and coexistence.

Taking as a starting point the renovation of the Fundació Aprodisca headquarters in Cambrils—a project developed jointly by Laboqueria Arquitectura and Terra·cota Estudi—we examine the essential criteria for designing workspaces that are flexible, acoustically comfortable, and centered on people.

Laboqueria Arquitectura participated in EcoConstruir 2026, a gathering focused on sustainable construction, industrialization, and innovation in building processes. The event provided an opportunity to share experiences and reflect on the environmental impact of materials and the social challenges surrounding access to housing, featuring examples such as the La Balma cooperative housing project and the Son Ferriol Health Center.

On October 2nd, our member Ricard Grau, from Laboqueria Arquitectura, participated in the “(Des)Abandonament” (De-abandonment) International Congress held at the Institute for Catalan Studies in Barcelona.

The gathering provided an opportunity to present the work currently underway as part of the Territori de Vincles project in the Vall del Corb and to share experiences with other initiatives addressing the challenges of depopulation, abandonment, heritage, and the future of rural areas.

On September 21st, Laboqueria Arquitectura participated in the Territori de Vincles gathering at Ciutadilla Castle—a collaborative workspace dedicated to driving new initiatives for the future of the Vall del Corb.

The creation of Custòdia—a new alliance of cooperatives dedicated to fostering affordable housing—invites us, as an architecture cooperative, to reflect on our role in the face of the housing crisis and the need to promote cooperative, sustainable models that are deeply rooted in the local area.

As the academic year draws to a close, Laboqueria Arquitectura highlights the teaching work of its partners, Ricard Grau and Alfons Tornero, in the field of Construction at La Salle Arquitectura, an activity that strengthens the link between professional practice, research, and the training of new generations of architects.

Laboqueria Arquitectura is participating in Flearchitecture, the exhibition for the Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture, through work produced by La Salle Architecture students in the Construction Systems course taught by Ricard Grau.

Ricard Grau from Laboqueria Arquitectura participated in the presentation of the future Pol Cooperatiu Cal Valeri in Tàrrega, a project led by Quàlia that will transform two old industrial buildings into a facility dedicated to the social and solidarity economy. The rehabilitation, developed jointly with Muntant Arquitectura, will preserve the industrial identity of the building, reuse existing materials and place a large interior courtyard as a central element of connection between the different spaces and entities.

Laboqueria Arquitectura recently participated in the Arquitectura.Coop conference, an initiative promoted by various cooperatives and social economy entities with the aim of showcasing new ways of practicing architecture through cooperation, social commitment, and territorial transformation. The conference combined spaces for debate and reflection with an exhibition featuring experiences implemented by architecture cooperatives from across the country.

This summer, L’Ombra, a community climate shelter, has been installed in the Raval neighborhood. It’s designed as a space for rest, gathering, and protection from the increasingly intense effects of heat in public spaces.

The initiative is part of a broader process led by La Traginera, the Urban Community of the Ciutat Vella district, along with Impulsem and the Fundació Tot Raval. This process explores new forms of collective management of urban resources and community-based responses to the climate and energy challenges facing neighborhoods.
