The Future of the Vall del Corb

Territori de Vincles

On September 21st, our member Ricard Grau, from Laboqueria Arquitectura, participated in a gathering of local authorities—including municipalities, county councils, and provincial councils—from the Territori de Vincles area. Held at Ciutadilla Castle, the event was organized by the Association for the Integrated Development of the Vall del Corb.

The day served as a forum for collaboration between public administrations and local stakeholders, aiming to review the work accomplished so far and coordinate future initiatives to continue revitalizing the Vall del Corb.

During the session, updates on the Territori de Vincles initiative were presented, alongside various lines of work concerning the future of the valley’s villages and micro-villages. The initiatives discussed included the second phase of the municipal shops project, which aims to identify interests, infrastructure, and potential models for inter-municipal cooperation.

A proposal for a resource bank for building renovation in the Vall del Corb was also presented; this initiative seeks to recover and reuse materials from demolition, renovation, construction surpluses, or donations. The project entails creating an inventory and catalog of materials, as well as establishing a storage facility and a network of local artisans and professionals to facilitate their reuse in new projects.

This line of work aligns with an approach to architecture that views it as a tool deeply connected to the territory—one capable of activating existing resources, highlighting the value of local construction methods, and fostering renovation processes that are more sustainable and rooted in the local context.

At Laboqueria Arquitectura, we continue to participate in these spaces for research and collaboration, viewing architecture as extending beyond the building itself—as a tool to help create territories that are more vibrant, sustainable, and cohesive.

The event concluded with a tasting of products from the Vall del Corb and an opportunity for informal conversation among the attendees.
