The cabanes de tros are part of the heritage of Segarra and served as shelters for farmers and animals during fieldwork. This project rehabilitates a traditional log cabin to transform it into a self-sufficient, efficient refuge integrated into the landscape, aiming not only to preserve the architectural value of these structures but also to promote the revitalization of the rural territory by encouraging sustainable housing adapted to current needs. To achieve this, vernacular materials such as wood, stone, and lime mortar have been used, combining tradition and innovation to improve comfort and thermal efficiency. The intervention equips the building with self-sufficient systems for energy, water, and sanitation, ensuring its functionality in an isolated rural environment. The cabin offers a functional and comfortable space of 50 m², maintaining a stable temperature throughout the year, and supports a sustainable and replicable model that fosters rural development, repopulation, and a better quality of life in the countryside.
