revitalize rural territories through
the Ruralitats Comunitàries program.

Ruralitats Comunitàries is a project that proposes innovative solutions for the challenges faced by depopulated rural areas, such as Vall del Corb, where there is a severe lack of access to housing and a large deteriorated housing stock. With the goal of linking access to housing with the creation of dignified and quality employment, this project integrates housing rehabilitation with the production and processing of local and agroecological products.

At Laboqueria Arquitectura, we focus on strengthening agro-food craftsmanship and promoting local production to generate added value and anchor it in the territory, thus contributing to the regeneration of the primary sector. Farmers and producers are key agents in maintaining the agroforestry mosaic and implementing resilience measures against climate change. Ruralitats Comunitàries arises from the need to address barriers to accessing self-consumption energy systems and self-construction solutions. With this purpose, we seek to interconnect local initiatives with public policies on housing access and rehabilitation.

The main results of the project include the implementation of four pilot tests of innovative housing solutions in rural areas, the promotion of a new cooperative workshop for vegetable processing, and the consolidation of existing cooperative workshops. Additionally, we encourage inter-cooperation within Catalonia among projects focused on rural revitalization, access to decent housing, and cooperative workshops, as well as the development of resources to ensure the replicability of these solutions in other territories. Our project is based on collaboration to tackle the common challenge of guaranteeing bread, shelter, and dignified work for everyone.
