Architecture Competition

We are pleased to announce that Laboqueria Arquitectura has been selected as a finalist in the competition for the new construction/expansion project of the Geissberg Tinkerbell childcare center, in the municipality of Schaffhausen. Our proposal highlights integration with nature, sustainability, and architectural flexibility, creating welcoming and healthy spaces for children’s development.

The extension of the Geissberg Kinderzentrum takes shape through three new buildings that help define and generate a sheltered yet open environment connected to nature—an ideal setting for early childhood education. The layout of these three new buildings is coordinated with the existing Geissberg 2 building, respecting and integrating it into the ensemble in a central position. The four volumes are connected by a shared covered walkway, while maintaining separate entrances according to their respective programs. Additionally, they create a central green courtyard and are arranged in a way that maximally preserves the existing nature and trees, forming more intimate spaces between them. The proportions and heights of the new buildings are adapted to the surrounding environment and existing topography.
