Property renovation of a house in Barcelona
At Laboqueria Arquitectura we understand rehabilitation and renovation as an opportunity to transform existing homes, highlighting their heritage, history and urban context, while improving the quality of life and energy efficiency of the interiors.
House 5102, located in the dense fabric of Barcelona, is a clear example of this philosophy. The intervention starts from the conservation of the heritage facade, which maintains the memory of the original building and dialogues with the new interventions, establishing a balance between preservation and innovation.
The project unfolds around a large central void that generates a double space and backbones the entire interior organization. This void, solved with a combination of prefabricated wood and metal structures, allows for light, spaciousness and visual relationship between the levels, highlighting the materials and construction solutions used.
The openings facing south and the interior patio ensure natural light and cross ventilation, creating a comfortable, flexible and healthy home. The rehabilitation incorporates bioclimatic criteria that optimize energy efficiency, improving the thermal behavior of the building without compromising the original character of the house.
House 5102 demonstrates that heritage rehabilitation is not just about conservation, but also an opportunity to reinterpret housing from a contemporary perspective. The interior is transformed into a space that combines history, comfort and sustainability, offering a new experience of habitability within the dense urban fabric.
With this intervention, Laboqueria Arquitectura reaffirms its commitment to transforming existing homes into spaces that respect the past, improve the present and prepare for the future.
