Recover identity

The task is to rehabilitate two homes in the heart of Barcelona. Flats in an estate from 1890, with very primary material descriptions and originating from the area.

Ceramic block wall structure and metal interlocking structure. Primary elements that on the part of the client, were important to maintain and show.

On the part of the study, it was very important to allow an energy rehabilitation, which through the analysis of implementation and program strategies, has allowed to maintain these premises.

Targets:

To have very defined spaces, where the organization of each activity is clearly defined by the own form of the property, associating therefore the openings towards the outside necessary in each use.

Take great care of the environmental impact, understanding that both the work of execution of the rehabilitation and the very useful life of the house, proposing passive energy strategies. Posing a proposal that takes advantage of maximum sunlight in winter, thus creating inertia inside, considerably reducing the use of heating. In summer we use the thickness of the walls, to control the indoor temperature, thus avoiding overheating.

Maintain the original structure, stripping it of any coating; in this way they are sincere with the pre-existing ones, and the users can coexist with the originality of the estate.
