Casa Iris

A Changing House

Primarily used as a summer house, this building originally had a kitchen on the ground floor and two living rooms. However, the stairs between the ground floor and the first floor were outside. Seeking a higher quality of life, the residents began to spend longer periods of time at the summer house and decided to leave behind their first home.

The commission was to build a new interior connection between the two levels and to include an extra bedroom with a bathroom and dressing room. The result was a new staircase in a double space located on the north side of the house, this had a minimal impact on the original floor plan. It included two windows with windows seats, one on the ground floor with a view of the interior garden and the other one on the first floor with views out towards Garraf. These places were created for reading, relaxing and developing a relationship between the inside and the outside, creating a link with the environment.
